"The Red Carpet" by Rex Parkin

I just secretly ordered the children's book "The Red Carpet" for Pete for a Christmas gift. He mentioned the other day that his dad had his copy of the book, and Pete really missed it because it was cool and featured cars and motorcycles and such. So I hopped online and found a copy at Amazon. I ordered one that's in very good shape, and it should be on its way any day now.

It's funny, because Pete was asking about the book again today, and he was wondering out loud if we should order it right away so we can be sure to get a copy. I had to hem and haw to change the subject, and I finally got him to stop thinking about the book. I'm sure he'll be delighted when I give it to him though. I love giving special gifts like that, when the person just mentions something they like, and then they suddenly get it for their birthday or Christmas. Pete just seems especially fond of the story, so I can't wait for him to see the book when it arrives.

Here's what one blogger wrote about the book.

i love those old illustrations. they just don't make them like they used to.

i agree about the giving a gift of something that was mentioned long before it was given. Brac is the king of this. he will get something for me that i had completely forgotten that i mentioned and give it to me when i least expect it. you'll have to let us know what his response is when you give it to him.
