I wonder if I can install a Dutch door in place of our front door? This seems like a great idea, especially since it would contain all the little beasties we have who like to run away. We don't have a back door, just a sliding door, so I'd have to swap the front door instead. And I would need to screen in the top part, or else risk being eaten alive by mosquitos.

I LOVE them. I had one as a back/kitchen door on a house I lived in as a kid and I LOVED IT ...it's so quaint and cheery! On a front door it would be FAB ..I would only worry about security. but I think I've seen em.
you could get a full length screen too, right? anyway - I love dutch doors. they seem so warm to me.
dutch doors remind me of farms and all things homely along with french doors.
