Pete looked up this video called "Starseed" from Our Lady Peace on his iPhone on the way home from work yesterday. He played the video for me several times, and we both agreed it was somewhat lame. Then he started making his own versions of the song, using everything from KFC to driving on the road as inspiration for his lyrics. He sang each version of the song at the top of his lungs, doing a little dance in his seat for me, and he used an empty water bottle to sing into for emphasis.
Here's a little snippet of one of his songs:
KFC is really bad It's the worst chicken I've ever had It makes your stomach really hurt If I eat too much I start to burp Starseed! Starseed!
As we got closer to the house, he got very wound up and started tossing empty water bottles and an empty coffee cup at me (which dribbled a bit on my jeans), so I reprimanded him for this. He then started a new version of his song, but in a quiet and slow voice:
I made Chris feel really mad She wishes I would stop being bad I'll behave myself and start being nice So we can talk and share advice Starseed! Starseed!
Or something like that. He then suggested we sing to each other in this style to converse in the car, rather than talk. And obviously I didn't want to play along with this, but every time I said something, he'd turn it into more lyrics, which totally cracked me up. By the time we got home he was being super goofy and poking and tickling me.
I'm not sure what was in his dinner tonight (from McDonald's), but it sure was potent.
