Toothpaste in the eye

I accidentally splashed (shot? splurted? splooshed?) some toothpaste in my eye this morning while brushing my teeth. I think it should replace "slap in the face" as a negative expression. Then people can say, "Boy, that was sure some toothpaste in the eye, huh?" and people would nod knowingly and tsk tsk. It really burns, that's for sure.
