Hummingbird logo
Well, I'm starting to get really serious about going off into creativity land and doing illustration full time. I'm loving the idea of becoming a children's book illustrator, a path that I have slowly been headed down, and toward which I have been working, since college. I've been looking into the business end of things and finding networking sources and the like. I also have to work on drumming up my client base, polishing my resume and portfolio, etc.
Anyhow, I keep playing around with the idea of having a hummingbird as my logo. I have a name in mind for my business (rather than just using my own), a name which conjures up the sense of imagination, dreaming, creativity, and freedom. So I think a hummingbird is exactly the right fit, and it conveys the feel I want for something lighthearted and sweet, like the illustrations will be.
I bought this hummingbird at a craft store earlier this summer when I was buying wedding paraphernalia. I keep looking at it, brainstorming and coming up with different images in my mind. I can't wait to get started on the logo, because I think it'll be a good motivator for me, knowing that the logo is done and that I have something symbolic to stand behind. And I think I need to have that thrill of excitement about my work (something I haven't felt in a long time) so that I'm encouraged to keep going forward with my dream.
